....not particularly at your person but rather at the entire group of which you are a member? I suppose "harassment" would be the general term for what I am referring to here. Please address also the special case of harassment at a distance, as through the Internet on a forum such as this one.

Hello, Marko F.

Sometimes, what is different may be feared or disliked. Othertimes, it is the other person's insecurity that caused her/him to react negatively.

Education and positive examples help.

Perhaps bringing it (the undesired behavior) to attention in a non-confrontational manner to the person/ group involved will help open their understanding that the comment/s hurt.

"Perhaps" is the catch because not everyone will be enlightened; although it is hoped that most will see the pain that they caused.

We cannot make everyone happy all the time; but we have the option to behave civilly.

It all depends on the the form of communication: forums, IM, newgroups, etc. If you can block them, do it. If not, don't respond at all. It really is true that they will get bored and stop. They want you to get mad. They want you to react in any way. Do not give them that satisfaction.

When it gets the most irritating, remember that they are obviously not that bright. Anyone who judges an entire group of people on anything is missing some logic. Just keep that in mind and it will make you feel a little better.

for "Mike S" respond: you're thoroughly and fully incorrect. once you're saying "afraid of" it is likewise observed as "threatened." and that's what alot of homophobia is derived from, while a rapidly man or woman feels threatened by homosexuals. the two they experience threatened, by a gay man or woman drawing near to them, by a gay man or woman raping there baby, by a gay ruining classic marriage, and so on so on. And only with the aid of fact a which capacity 1000 years in the past (1920) doesnt propose it could have the comparable which capacity now. A be conscious is barely as stable with the aid of fact the way we use the which capacity. as an occasion: N-I-G-G-E-R became into observed as only being the colour of someones pores and skin, yet as all of us recognize now that's an exceedingly offensive be conscious, with the aid of way racist human beings makes use of it. playstation Mike S, the project is which you dont prefer to seem homophobic, so which you utilize different excuses of why you're actually not., as in PRETENDING that homophobic isnt even a be conscious, supply me a wreck.

I guess those strangers who verbally abuse you are unhappy.

I always try to be happy despite my bitter abusive past time that often haunts me. But unhappy people like it when everyone else's unhappy. I think there is the kinda bitterness in people when they see someone is happy.

Don't let them bring you down, stand tall and pride. Just think that they are unhappy... somehow, someway..... until they want to see you unhappy as well like them. Don't take that..... Never.

best way to deal with it is ignore it, it will go away or make itself known in another way

If they do it at a distance kindly ask them in a loud authoritative voice to step up face to face and say it like a man. The next sound you will hear will be his nut sack shriveling up.
