I upgraded the ram to 1gb but i still find it slow when turning it on and opening programs. Im not sure if can change the processor but if i can what would be the best processor to change to.

Are you serious you put 1GB on that antique and it worked? Go to the Intel sight and check for compatible CPU's or call there tech support and explain what you want to do.

You can change it to a PIII "flip chip" which looks like a celeron but has a larger cache plus is a faster chip. Check the type of socket you have then do a web search for chips that fit that socket.

You need to go to your motherboard's website and find out if your board will support a Pentium chip. If not, you will need to upgrade your board and chip.

FYI - more ram doesn't make a computer faster, it only allows you to do more multi-tasking without performance issues.

hav u tried reinstalling the operating system?
