My wife loves Christmas and we already have a tree up. We have another tree on order and we will be putting up a natural tree after the 15th of December.

When we were in WA state, we took the kids to the christmas tree farm the day after Thanksgiving. They chose the tallest tree that can fit into our house and enjoyed the wagon ride and the hot apple cider drink and the candy cane. So, we put up our tree the day after thanksgiving. Here in CA, the Christmas tree farm near us do not open till Sunday. However, we are putting out the lights and some christmas decorations on Friday, day after Thanksgiving. That is, after we're done with our early shopping that day. We'll put up the tree on Sunday this year.

This is an individual question. If it is a live tree, then I suggest that you don't put it up till 10 days before Xmas. When in the house, it drops needles in the dry atmosphere, and you will have them all over the house, also not good if you have pets. Buy the tree and leave it outside for a few days, before you put it up.
Artificial tree can be put up anytime, it seems these days. I like to wait until the 15th December, then the whole season is not dragged out and I can enjoy my tree over xmas, without being totally fed up looking at it.!!!

A week before Christmas usually... It's no really Christmas time until after Christmas day... it's Advent... so the tree doesn't go up until we HAVE to get one because all the good ones are being sold!

My Christmas trees always seem to dry out, so if I buy a real one I put it up only a week before Christmas. If I put my fake one up I do it a week before. I just get busy.

Our tradition is to put up our Christmas decorations during Thanksgiving Weekend, usually that Saturday. We can't have a tree because our seven house cats will kill it. But we do up the outside very nicely.

Usually the day we get back from Thanksgiving, but this year it's different. Our son is a lively and spirited 14-month old, and we can't put up a Christmas tree.

This year we're making one out of paper and putting it on our sliding glass door. It's nothing special, but it's all we need. :-)

Sometimes a week before Christmas, sometimes Christmas Eve, sometimes not at all. But now that I have kids, probably 2 weeks before and leave it up 2 weeks after.

Traditionally growing up we always put up the tree on my birthday (December 2) and took it down on my grandmother's birthday (February 4). Yeah that's a long time and I no longer follow that tradition exactly. I do still like to put it up on my birthday though.
