It seems like my female guppys tail is darker that it was yesterday. Is that normal? I do think she is pregnant and I did turn the heater up a bit is this the reason?

It might just be my imagination but it does look darker.

Also, does warmer water make them more active? My male guppy seems more active

I did have a trio but one died just the other day :( I think it may have been because she swallowed some gravel

You may want to test the water for nitrates. I had a female die yesterday. Her tail had darkened. If nitrates are high, you may need to do a partial water change. Hoped that helped.

Yes, the tail does change colors. The color turns dark or light depending on stress. Sometimes the amount of light also plays a factor.
In this case it might be stress.
Is she the only female with the male? If so, get another female. You should always keep livebearers in trios.

If you put the heater in and the temp rose, then it may have caused the males to get "frisky" and he's been chasing the females around, and some of the females may be preg. now. Just keep checking for the gravid spot (black spot near her anal fin), if it keeps growing then she's preg.

They can change colour as they get older but I have never seen one change noticably that quickly. They do get a black "gravid spot" when they are near to giving birth but that is at the base of the tail...;
