According to Family Guy (which tends to be on the pulse of the truth for many things...) it is definately something more. Apparently Bert also has a drinking problem and Ernie eats cookies in the bed.
I agree... Rubber Ducky has to be a code word for something else that makes bathtime lots of fun.

I am not familiar with the paper clip collection. However, Bert and Ernie maybe the stepping stone for tolerance in children. Sesame Street has always been a progressive show.
