You can not and should not force your body into labour before your baby is ready. There is also a different between post-dates and post-term though most doctors seem to have forgotten that. Your average pregnancy lasts 38-42 weeks. In fact your average first time pregnancy that is not overly medically managed goes 41w3d. Post-dates just means you are after your due date and is not generally associated with an increased risk in almost all parts of the world except the USA. Post term is either after 42 or 43 weeks depending on who you are reading. This is associated with an increase in problems as sometimes a baby has a defect that prevents them from initiating labour and this is linked to other health problems. Also if the mother is not receiving adequate nutrition (which so many North Americans are not thanks to our over-processed diet and nooooo synthetic vitamins do not make up for this) the placenta can begin to fail.
You can try the fun things like sex, oral sex (you need to swallow), nipple stimulation, spicy food, swinging, going up in elevators, etc. But really it is your baby that puts you into labour and your baby knows best.

i have heard several different things over the pst few years of friends having babies..... some docs say go home and have sex but the guy has to ejaculate in you for it to even matter ( its eats away at the cervix helping you dilate), some say playing with your nipples ( never asked if any one did it, just heard it said) others say walk a lot, and some say there are certain foods that can help hurry the process. Good luck in what ever you choose to do....

try lots of sex, the sperm tend to thin the mucus plug, if it does not work then try walking as much as you can but keep hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids, last have a shot of castor oil, if that still does not get you going tell your doc to induce you!
Good Luck
