Before getting my own saddle,I borrowed other people's tack, which is excusable since I don't own my own horse.I always cleaned their tack after using it,but I just got a western saddle of my own,and I've always heard that a saddle should be oiled a few times a year in addition to being cleaned regularly to keep it in good condition..I've never had to oil a saddle before, lol, and I have a stupid question. How do I do it?

clean it with saddle soap and then rub in a little neatsfoot oil or mink oil

You need saddle soap. It will clean and soften your saddle. The reason you oil your saddle is to keep the leather soft and stop some of the squeaking that happens to new or dry leather, especially with you tighten the girth

use neets foot oil. You can get it at farm supply stores, or tack stores. It will tell you how to apply it.
