What is the most humane way to kill our Thanksgiving turkey?

Should we cut it's head off or break it's neck? We don't want it to suffer unnecessarily, and we do want to kill it ourselves so we know it died humanely. We don't buy those frozen ones because you cannot be sure they were treated with respect. What should we do?
