when i overclock my video card there is a high pitch sound about 1/2 way into the benchmarking. if i lower the speed by about 2mhz it stops. i don't know if it is the video card or PSU. the card is a geforce 4000mx. the slot type is PCI 2.0. the PSU is 380w.this is the speed OCed.GPU 345mhz RAM 515mhz. default speed GPU 275 RAM dual 350mhz the RAM is DDR.

when it makes that noise your putting too much voltage thru a capasitor if you do it long enough it will explode you probably have bulged caps

Most GF MX card have passive cooling (not active with fans) and thus your card is probably hot. I overlcock with Riva Tuner and ATI tool and push until artifacts then back off until no artifacting is present. Passive cards shouldn't be overclocked anyway IMO. I also use very good heat sink fans like the Zalmans and artic silver 5 so everything stays fairly cool. I would presume that your overheating and the capacitors are also about to give it up. I would advise you read up on overclocking and how to do it properly. I don't recommend it for novices.

its the video card. Just overclock it by 50mhz or u will shorten the life of the card dramatically
