I have the Nvidia 6600 with 128mb and i found a Radeon x1600 with i think 512 ram for $100 is it going to be better than the one i have now??

x1600 is better than 6600, I check newegg.com and I didnt find any x1600 for $100,(x1300 was its much worse)
512 and 256 mb dont realy make difference. Pixel pipes and corespeed do.

you can't really compare those two cards;
even though the 6600GT can show quite a few more Frames Per Second then a X1600 (even a X1600XT), the technology of the 6600 is simply not up to par, anymore.
so, yes, the X1600 is the better read newer card, obviously, but it'll be very appalling for a gamer, as most newer games will only play with very low frame rates (@ full resolution).
also, a X1600 for a 100 bucks may not even be a PRO (512MB comes at a price, too...) so you'll be even more frustrated (as a gamer)
bottom line: avid gamer, look for something else;
casual gamer, yup, you'll be happy w/ the X1600, even though ;you may want to trade in 256MB to get a PRO (core & mem speed are more important then an additional 256MB)

Actually the plain X600 is right on par with the non-gt 6600. It's the X1600 Pro and specially the X1600XT that are quite a bit better than a vanilla 6600. Better to get a X1600 Pro/XT or 7600GS/GT. You can get a BFG or eVGA 7600GT for about $113.00 A/R at newegg.

It will but not a huge noticible difference...... are you sure it has 512 didnt think x1600 could have that much memory
