Mistletoe toe is a parasitic plant that robs trees of water and nutrition by forcing its roots through the bark of the tree into the under layers.
You don't make mistle toe, but to get rid of it, try to cut it from the trees before the berry's can form. and continue to keep the surrounding trees clear of it. Make sure not to let any plants mature so that they form berries. Birds love the fat white berries and will help to spread the darn stuff!

Yes, mistletoe is a parisite that hinders the growth of a tree. Eventually an infested tree will sucumb to it.
In the area where I live, Oaks are the primary host for mistletoe.
I too have fond memories of shooting it down with a shotgun when I was young. Then I would package it in plastic bags and peddle it around the neighborhood for a little extra Christmas money.

This question takes me way back!

I grew up & still live in a very beautiful rural area.

Funny how some things take you back to a simplier time. I can remember as a child / teenager & how my brothers would take their guns out into the woods at Christmas time & shoot down mistletoe from the tops of trees - where it grows.

Wow. Thanks for the journey back down that road!

You can't "make" mistletoe. You can buy some, or grow it. Stores sell silk mistletoe. If you buy enough, you can make a pretty wreath with bows and other greenery.
