Open the calculator on your computer and multiply 37.5 X 20 % (hit the percent key after the 20) =

The jacket was half off (50%) the orig price of $88, or $44. Take another 1/4 (25%) off the $44 (1/4 of 44 is 11; subtract 11 from $44) for the final price.

1)....one Fifth (20% is a fifth) of $37.50= $7.50(she bought the jacket for $30(original price - 20%))

2) sale price of jacket is ($88 - 50%)= $44
then got another 25% off (a quarter)=$44/4= $11
So he got jacket for $33 (sale price(50% off) - 25% discount)

37.50 * .20 (or 20%) = 7.50, that's how much you deduct for the discounted price.

88.00 jacket at 50% off =
88.00 - (88.00 * .5 (or 50%)) which is the same thing as
88.00 - 44.00 = 44.00.
NOW $44.00 - 25% is the same as
44.00 - (44.00 * .25 (or 25%)) which is
44.00 - 11.00 = 33.00
Jason paid 33.00! He still paid too much cause it's a really tacky jacket.

Gurl, I feel ya with the math. I'm out of school on Thanxgiving holiday, and I have a 250 point math project to do. Um...don't you have to do the 20% like this .20? and subtract it from the price? I'm not sure about that so don't quote me!!!

ok, the first question is 37.50x.20= 7.50 So now you take
37.50-7.50=30 so Now it costs $30.00 so thats ur answer

88x.50=44
Now 44x.25=11
Now you take 44-11=33 is your answer so

#1is #30.00
#2 is $33.00

the first answer is $7.50 was taken off
the second answer is $55 was taken off...

What you have to do is take the originial price of the item and times it by whatever is the %.. like you would take the $37.50 and times it by .20 and you get your answer of how much was taken off.

you multiply 37.50 by .20 (you move the decimal over 2 places!)

same thing:

88.00 multiplied by .75 (50+25 = 75% off)
After you get that answer, move the decimal places four over and subtract from 88.00, then you'll have your final answer!

You may want to practice some later too.

20 percent equals 20 divided by 100 or .02. so you have to multiply the original price by 20 percent and then you subtract whatever you get fromthe original and you have your answer! hope that helped

The first one would be 20% off of 37.50 and the second would be 75% off 88.00
