A friend of mine from school was added on my msn messanger last year after we left school and we exchanged numbers a few months ago but didnt call because i was uncomfortable with that - we only texted each other and continued talking online

i called him a couple of days ago and spoke to him for 2 hours (though, i thought it would have only lasted 5 minutes)

Now he wants to progress from msn conversations to phone conversations, like only talking on the phone and not any more on msn - i dont want that - i want to remain msn buddies, nothing else....maybe calls only once in while

Ive told him already that i dont wana talk to him on the phone because i dont want to get into any habits, but he still calls me wanting to talk to me and isnt backing down.

How do i revert back to just msn conversations again? he is a good friend, but is the type of person that knows i back down easily.

well hun if he is such a good friend than he should understand that you are not comfortable with talking on the phone. some ppl can spend hours on the phone with their friends all day everyday and some ppl prefer msn or txt msg or such sort. maybe you should ignore his calls and if he is online as well you can msg him and tell him that your parents need to use the phone or you can tell him that your parents are not ok with you busying the phone like that so it is easier and more private to talk thru msn.

If he does not take no for an answer he is not showing you respect. A person who is not showing you respect can not be labeled as friend and shouldn't be someone you talk on the phone with. Tell him that you enjoy the text relationship but nothing more, if this is unacceptable for him, eliminate him from having any relationship with you. That is what I would do in your position.

I personally dont think you can. I think a line has been crossed and its very hard to revert back to what things once were. But you cant back down cause if you do , you loose all control, and relationships of all kinds need to be equal. One person cant dominate, it only leads to unhappieness.
