Oh and does that mean my transmission is going out? My car runs fine and this was only the second time it happend in the past 21/2 months. I put a lil more transmission fluid in it and it runs great but i rather take care of the problem now.

Instead of doing the guessing game which could end up costing you could concentrate on getting to the bottom of this problem. Honda techs are trained to detect and find problems with Honda vehicles. They have the expertise to usually find it quickly and give you the most economical way of repairing it.
You can take everyone else's advice and play the miss and hit game and never find the real problem. I understand you may feel that it's expensive but trust me all those "miss and Hits" will cost you money and may cost you even more if it screws something else up in the process.
Honda parts have a warranty so if they malfunction they'll replace them. If your vehicle is your main source of transportation isn't it worth getting it repaired right the first time around?
Good Luck

It could also be your syncro rings that are going bad. Most Honda transmission have trouble popping out of gear though, or not going into gear at all.

The RSX has always had problems with popping out of 3rd gear, even brand new ones.

If your Honda is manual, your flywheel maybe stripped. A transmission doesn't need to have a burning smell for something to be wrong with it.

There may be sensors such as a pressure switch on the transmission that is malfunctioning...check those first.
