There are a lot of things that are normal during pregnancy. Things that you once found to taste great taste......like ugh.I loved salmon and now at 37 weeks, my little girl won't let me near it. The line that you get comes at around oh......a couple of months into the pregnancy. All that's normal

For one of my three pregnancies--absolutely my taste was affected. I don't know why but it was.
And the brown line on the tummy is the negra. Here is what one of the baby websites says about it:
ou have probably never noticed the pale line, called the linea alba, that runs from your belly button to the top of your pubic bone. It is usually the same color as your skin, but during pregnancy this line may darken (usually during your second trimester) and is then called a linea negra (Latin for "black line). This darkening is caused by increases in estrogen and progesterone, which in turn step up production of the pigment melanin, a condition known as hyperpigmentation. Fair skinned women show linea negra less often than women with darker pigmentation. And some research suggests there may be a link between linea negra and insulin.
An old wives' tale claims that if your linea negra runs only to your navel, you are carrying a girl; but if it goes all the way up to the xiphoid (bottom-most part of the center of your ribcage), it's a boy.
There is no way to prevent or erase the linea negra. However, if it bothers you, here's what you can do:
* Reduce pigment changes by protecting yourself from the sun and avoiding bleaching products.
* Get enough folic acid. Folic acid deficiency may increase skin discoloration.
* If the line bothers you, try covering it up with some concealing makeup.
Your linea negra will lighten within several months of your baby's birth, but for some women, it never completely disappears.
Good luck!

I don't know whats up with the line thing I am 6 months pregnant I don't have a line. I think some people just get it. The food thing yeah that happened with me I used to love cheese dip and chips. I could eat a whole jar by myself in one sitting. When I became pregnant I bought some sat down and thought I was gonna be sick. Now when I see it I'm like ewww nasty. Plus nothing seems to be spicy enough. I had my mom add an extra package of seasoning to the tacos one night just so it didn't taste like dog food. My mom got super heart burn and I still could only barely taste it.

The tasting thing can be normal. Only be worried if you start tasting metallic. The brown line you get on the stomach isn't seen by everyone, if you have more pigmented skin, you may not even see it at all.
Sounds like you have a lot of reading to do. It may make you feel more comfortable about things.

Your body will do all kinds of amazing things....trust me! The sense of taste and of smell will definately be out of whack! I love chinese food, but when I was pregnant with my daughter....I couldn't stand it! With this pregnancy, it is the smell of butter and ranch dressing...YUCK! Certain foods that I used to dislike, now taste great..like peanut butter. Very weird..but very normal!
Oh, and the brown line....that is a line that goes from your pubic bone up to your naval...and sometimes even higher. It is where the muscles are separating to accomodate your growing belly! A lot of women get it. It is very common in women with darker or olive skin. Not all women get it though..and it can come at any time. With my first, I was about 6 months along....with my second...about 5 months and so on and so on......but with this pregnancy, I saw the line befor I even took the pregnancy test!
Good luck and Congratulations!

Yes, it's definitely normal for things to taste funny when you're pregnant. This happened for me a lot in the very beginning. As for the line -- it's called the linea negra, and some women get it and some don't. Try searching it! Have a great pregnancy!

Yes everything tastes different for some women. I had that. Also your sense of smell increases a lot. After birth nothing really tastes very much for awhile.
And no not everyone gets a line. It tends to be darker skinned women but it can happen to anyone but doesn't happen to most people.

Everything tasting different is very common. The brown line is called linea negra. It just shows up more on some people. It will fade after birth.

Your tastes may change and you may go off certain foods, Totally normal. As regards the dark line if you are fair skinned you probably wont get it. Not everyone does. I have just had my baby and mine is still here!!! It is going though.. None of my other friends have had it though. Its called a linea nigra by the way.

It is completely normal for things to taste weird. I had that alot, where something i liked before i got pregnant was good then while i was pregnant wasnt so good, usually women with a darker complection get the lines, not to many blondes or red heads do, its cause there lighter complected. i have 3 kids and never had the line with any of them. (im a blonde, light complected).
