They'll make the playoffs and probably lose first round. But coming off 2 consecutive last place seasons thats a great jump start for the coming years. With Evgeni Malkin, Jordan Staal, of course Sidney Crosby and Marc Andre Fluery in net this team is loaded with young, super talented 1st round draft picks and will only improve with the coming years. Also with veterans like Mark Recchi, Johan LeClair and Sergi Gonchar it always help to have the veteran experience.

The Biggest knock on them as has been for the last couple years is there lack of overall defense but that something they can surely improve on with a good trade or something. Also there in a division that doesnt really have a great stand out team so I think the future is quite bright for the Pens.

Well hopefully keep it pretty much togther and make a few good runs at the cup over the next 10 years. Likely in about 3 years when Malkin and Staal come up, the year after Crosby, they will start to see the team slowly fall apart. The best thing that can happen is good drafting and not missing a beat.

Habitant do you understand WHY the team went bankrupt? Also twice in the last 10 years, when was the second. Maybe I am forgetting things wrong but I think it was twice in the franchise history. The first time was '84 just before Mario joined. The last time was when he retired for the first time and I was in Pittsburgh and remember the whole story. Anyway short version is that former owner Baldwin made a mistake and out of desperation signed a really bad lease so he could keep the team togther in the early 90s. It was basically that lease that bankrupted them, the bankruptcy judge said it was teh worse lease he had ever seen. He threw it out when Mario bought the team. Not sure how far outside the Pittsburgh Media Market this got so just though I would help define it.

its a very young team as there top players are getting rookie contracts like Crosby, Malkin and Stall. Crosby will be looking for a bigger contract in another 2 years but i don't see this team staying in Pittsburgh i love them too cause there part of the expansion of 67 to 12 teams. but would you keep a team where it just went bankrupt 2 times in the past 10 years i don't think you would. yes they do need to get more help on defence there all to offencive minded.

oh idk...play games and win maybe?..oh yeah they are doing that...it will be hard to keep them all around..but we all shall enjoy it while it lasts..its fun to watch all of those guys..and really not just the young talent..but the veterans are pretty awesome also...recchi had 2 GREAT goals tonight against the bruins...defense needs a lil work i will agree..i absolutley LOVE fleury...but he needs to work a lil more on shoot out defense...a lil weak there but other than that he is amazing!

Enjoy it while it lasts. I dont think they can hold on to all that talent in the years ahead with the cap.

Hopefully bring the Cup to Pitt before they all leave as free agents to a bigger market.

Apparently, win a lot more games than they did last year! They still need to find some good defensemen though....
