I caught something like the last 30 minute of a movie on HBO years ago. It was at least 10, maybe 15 years ago. When I started watching the government had a bus stopped and surrounded in the desert. On the bus was some guy who had created a device to talk to "the other side", "heaven" or what ever. The place where the souls of the dead go. Anyhow, he ends up getting shot. At the very end, I guess it's his girl friend is standing at the machine, where ever it is, grins and turns it off. Then she is driving away with Elvis singing "Blue Christmas" as the end song.
Anyone got a clue?

This is not "Brainstorm". "Brainstorm" was about a device that recorede the experience of living people. Similar to the device in "Strange Days" The device in the movie in question was able to contact the souls of the dead.
