My laptops' fan works fine but when I close the lid it goes on standby and that's fine too. Whenever I open it up again and it comes out of standby, for some reason the fan stays on maximum power and won't turn off and on like laptops should, it just stays on. Even when the system is cool it does this. Do you know why?

Check your Cmos setup, if there is no setting for the fan, then i would not worry about it, it better to be cool than hot....It must be a Dell, just joking.....they have the most complaints....

Try vacuuming the vent behind the fan - or even removing it, it gets clogged with dust and sends the fan into overdrive!
