I understand what you're talking about, but people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Perhaps revise your question to be grammatically correct: "Is it just me, or don't our young folk know how to spell properly"
Even that's a stretch when it comes to proper usage

You need to say it as "Is it just me, or don't our young folk know how to spell properly?"
I'm 19 and - when I don't make typos - am by far the best speller I know.
