Maybe because you never have. Try wearing high heels and nylons for a week...all day. You might outgrow the urge.

No you are not gay. You are a complusive cross dresser. When you wear women's clothes your brain releases a series of neurotransmitters which give you a feeling of well-being, sexual gratification, and self-fulfillment. You will probably notice an addiction-like response to these neurotranmitters. That's because they are the same chemicals in your brain as those associated with other addiction patterns. You will also notice that you will want to experiment to get "higher" by trying different things to produce a greater and greater response. Eventually crossdressers create an alter-ego, give "her" a name, and fall in love with their alter-ego. They sometimes have surgery to look more feminine, even to changing their gender.

Okay, this is not good. Sure there are others who form clubs with social activities for cross dressers and encourage each other on but there are some unpleasant repercussions. For instance, if you get married your wife will complain that she feels like your second love. If you have children they will learn to keep "daddy's secret" or suffer humiliation from their peers. Cross dressers are even know to abandon their family in order to "get in touch" with their feminine side. (Yes, it is a serious addiciton!)

So, what to do? Treat it like an addiction. You have to control it, or it will control you. Do not go any deeper than you are now. If there are articles of women's clothing you haven't experimented with yet, then don't do it. It will only suck in you deeper. If possible turn your cross dressing into a simple fetish. Limit your cross dressing activity. You have to treat it seriously or it will ruin your life and send you into depression.

Can be several things. This is a wide-open question, and a specific answer is difficult. Perhaps the best answer at this stage is to suggest that you get in touch with your feelings (honestly) when these desires hit. Wanting to dress as a female is initially very different from feeling as though you ARE a female. The way you phrased your question indicates that this might be a form of fetish attachment. There is some type of desire for you to identify with what society calls 'feminine'.

Another part of my answer involves what do you (or will you) get out of it? Another key part of answering the intiial question.

Just off the top of my head (and from personal experience!) this can be a form of running away from yourself, wanting to act out a sexual fantasy, peer (male) escape, or escape from society's expectations of being male, psychological attachment to mother, psychological fear or avoidance of father, gender/social rebellion.

Also, what TYPES of women's clothes? Sexually provocative? Flowing and feminine? Cute and colorful?

What are the things you feel attracted to, and what to express?

Don't know your age, so it's also possible that puberty and increasing sex drive may be adding fuel to the fire.

CAUTIOUS exploration. WIth a trusted friend, teacher, pastor, counselor. Be honest, explore EVERY aspect of what you feel and what your motives are at that point.

I found that with myself (and yes, I've done it.) it is a mixture of most of those reasons. I wasn't allowed to be very expressive as a child (in terms of clothing) and developed a strong 'gender envy' in my earlier years. Basically I learned to despise traditional male attire. Hence, when I tried full-blown crossdressing (serious attempts to really LOOK like a woman) it was fun, it was thrilling, it was a rush, but it also wasn't ME.

I found that a big part of my 'desires' stem from the need to feel that I can express myself somewhat beyond the 'limitations' imposed by society. The downside is that I also developed a need to 'justify' that expression under the guise of 'transgender'.

For example, there has been a trend of boys (and men) adopting skirts. In this case though, usually very basic styles without any degree of 'frilliness'. Mostly plain denim. Another popular trend is for guys to wear girls 'stretch' jeans which give a leaner, 'tight' look. This is popular in the EMO culture.

Back in the early 90's, it was not uncommon for men to wear leggings, especially under shorts. Fancy leggings were sold to men as 'running tights', though plain basic 'female' leggings worked just fine and were less expensive.

And don't forget about the 'Big Hair' rock bands from the 80's, where androgyny and even full-blown crossdressing was taken to extreme. (Of course, fueled by lots of drugs, sex and money...)

Wallly is wise in cautioning about addictive behavior. Which is why it is good thing to be honest from the start, as this type of behavior *can* lead to social isolation and withdrawl, increasing the need for the behavior... Not a fun place to be in.

Bottom line is to really ask yourself why, what is attractive about it, what do you want from it, etc. Also, what will it give you, what will it COST you (besides money), etc.
