I saw this in the paper...
Dallas (4.5+) over Tampa Bay
Detroit (-11) over Miami
Denver (+2.3) over Kansas City
What does the plus and minus signs mean?
Could you explain all that stuff, cause I'm lost...

Its kinda like a handicap betting system.
You bet on the team who is going to win.
But because (for instance) Detroit are expected to beat Miami easily they have an 11 point (i.e. -11) handicap against them. In other words, if you bet on Detroit to win, they would have to win by more than 11 points. If you bet on Miami to win, they could either win or lose by less than 11 points for you to still win the bet.
If the figure is a plus, it works the other way round.

Oh please bet is not racist. The thing is that when u look at most of the other channels there is nothing but whites. Bet is an outlet for blacks because there are very few networks and shows for them. That's not racist that's call trying to entertain your people. There are whites on Bet occasionally. Every other channel is WET to be correct. Get over the fact blacks only have like 2 or 3 channels they can call their own!

say i was going to the bookie to bet on detroit and i put ten bucks on detroit, in order for me to win detroit has to win by 11 or more points in order for me to win money, if they lose or win by ten or less, the house keeps the money.

that is the point spread or basically how much of a difference in score the game will be.if the difference is covered, you win.
