why is it alright to have all black collages but not white ones?

there might be all white collages,but it isint in the title.for instance,james town all white collage.EQUAL TREATMENT! for everyone is what this country was built on how can we as a nation call this alright

I have mixed feelings on this. I realize they were started because blacks needed the opportunities that weren't available to them in a time when they were not welcome in many white colleges. But I'm not sure what the value is today, beyond just tradition and may solidarity/loyalty? I am white, but personally want to meet and get to know all kinds of people, and being in a strictly mono-tone enviornment seems kind of limiting, especially for an educational experience. I don't think they are "wrong" but I'm not convinced I 'd want to attend one if I were black.

Probably because historically it was more difficult for blacks to get into college than whites because most blacks faced more obstacles and had less opportunities than their white neighbors. I know black colleges were useful in past decades in getting more black students to graduate from college because they felt more comfortable. Whites did not need all white colleges because many colleges in this country used to be all white anyway. I think things have changed and the situation is more equal today. I don't know if black colleges are still necessary, but they might stay around just for tradition's sake.

For the same reason you can have an all female bussiness club,but you can't have an all male bussiness club-DISCRIMINATION!. The rights activists want to have their cake and eat it too.
The Boy Scoouts have to allow women to be scoutmasters and let the girls join the boys,but men can't be Girl Scout leaders and boys can't join because the GirlScout Organization voted not to allow it.

I saw an Indiana license plate yesterday that said BLACK EXPO across the bottom. Imagine the outrage if there was one for white expo. And how about the NAACP, Congessional Black Caucus, The ***** College Fund, etc? There would be outrage if whites had the equivalent!

Nobody said it's not alright to have white colleges. I'm sure if you do some internet researching, you will find plenty of all white colleges.

Black colleges were built so black people had a place to be educated. ANY ONE can go to them and they are called "historically" black. They have a loved legacy for blacks who may never have gotten a higher degree without them.

By all means, apply to one and enjoy the experience of marching bands and freakniks.

BTW, just saying AMERICA implies its for whites. Remember when the ARMY had to escort black kids to WHITE schools....YEAH, thats why its Fing OK.

You should probably look up your colleges - I'm sure you will find plenty that are just for whites - some are just for greens and you will even find some that are just for pinks.
