You can download iTunes for free or you can install it through the disk it gives you after you buy an iPod. And once you finish installing it, there's a wizard that'll help you transfer all your windows media songs over to iTunes. I still keep both around, using the windows versions as easy back-ups whenever I reformat my computer.

Here are some ideas. First things fist, no, you can’t synchronize it to windows media player. Don’t let that part bother you. All you need to do is download iTunes from apple.com. It’s completely free to download it. Now, iTunes has its own music store which you can use, but you don’t have to use it. You can download CDs that you have to your iTunes music library or just a few songs from the CD. You can also burn the songs you want on your iPod from media player and import the disc you burned into your iTunes library. The worst that could happen when you import your burned disc in iTunes is that it might say Track 1, Track 2 ECT. You can type in the titles yourself. The CDs you buy and have from stores, no, you won’t have to type in every title of the song.

iTunes is a great media program! You won't regret it if you switch. I'm sure there are other opinions, but I was once a Windows fan myself. I would recommend downloading iTunes and testing it before you actually purchase your iPod. See if it's for you and then go from there!

When you get youe iPod it comes with a CD that has free iTunes on it for download. You don't have to buy music from iTunes. It is only used for putting music into your iPod. You can put in music from your library, CDs, etc. I download most of my music and I just put it into my iPod.

Itunes comes with you Ipod, and actually you can use it with other programs, it just does not work as well. Use Itunes and make sure that you keep updating it once you load it on your computer!! ITunes is not that great of a program, but Apple has a nitch and they are running to town with it...
