What with husbands saying it's all about better sexual intimacy and wives saying it's about new ways to pleasure and children having teenage pregnancy and what about AIDS?

I think it can damage relationships

At one stage I was working in a nightclub where we put a lot of thought into this because we wanted a very raunchy image and a certain type of er, active, clientelle.

We did not however want a clientelle of dirty old men.

We also were socially aware. We would have felt bad if, for example, someone got raped having got excited by the decor.

In the end we came to the conclusion that there are sex addicts and levels of addiction.

The ordinary person can see mildly titilating glamor photos and in alcohol terms say "one drink for me".

There are people who when they get one drink, just can't stop. We felt it likely that some people are like this with pornography and sex. Some people would get aroused and want harder and harder stuff, possibly illegal stuff.

And there are some that don't even stop at illegal pornography, but will then continue onto acting out the fantasies.

The alcoholic will make his life revolve around drink to the detriment of the humanity of his wife, employer, kids etc.

The sex addict will do the same, debasing the humanity of anything that stands in the way of gratification (although that does not necessarily mean raping, just altering his perception of women and men as people...depends on the level of addction...not all alcholics end up on the sidewalk).

In the end we toned down the decor.

I still don't favor banning porn, but I am more aware of the whole problem of sex addiction after those meetings and discussions.

Hope this helps.

I believe it can be damaging. I guess it depends on the individual, the man, the woman, etc. Just as some people can have a drink or two occasionally with no ill effects to their life, others become alcoholics and drink ruins their lives. I think porn is the same. It is very subjective. If the man and woman are both ok with it and it helps their relationship, or doesn't HURT it, then I guess it works for them. If one person or the other does it, and the other is against it, then problems will arise. I don't like it at all personally. I think of the women who do it, and I think they must be very sad, with a very poor outlook on themselves. Oh, they can say that they love it, or that they are RICH, etc, but really...how much can you think of yourself if you "do pornos". Also, I am a mom, and I can't imagine one of my KIDS doing that..yet the people who are doing it for money or fun or whatever are SOMEONES children, wives, moms, friends, etc. I think watching, buying, etc. just contributes to supporting peoples low self image. Personally, myself and my body are way too valuable to show to whoever! I don't care how rich it could make me, and personally I want porn to stay out of my house. It CAN ruin lives, it HAS ruined lives and I don't want my family playing russian roulette by being involved in it! Just as I couldn't forsee one of my children becoming a coke addict, I would NOT sit there and tell them it was ok to do, whether it did or didn't become a problem for them in the future. I would want them to STAY AWAY from it . I know one is illegal and the other isn't but you get my point?
JMHO!

You will have these things with out pornography.
Aids from viewing porn isn't possible nor any other std's . Masturbation is probably the safest sex that there is. If teenagers used it and not each other that would eliminate another teenage pregnancy. If people only view it and don't act it out I don't see it hurting a marriage.
Pornography may be aiding monogamy.

anyone who uses another person for their own selfish, self-centered reasons is inflecting harm upon another person.

Pornography, it can be argued can serve a useful purpose when used under the right conditions. It can equally be argued that there are no "right" conditions in which to produce pornography.

IMO, pornography has no place in my home. I do not believe in the promotion of women in demeaning ways. Anything that promotes women in a submissive, demeaning, use me and toss me away fashion is wrong. those who promote that kind of stuff demonstrate lack of a spiritual core. But then again, I respect their right to believe as they do, however caveman it may be.

Men are pigs mostly and most like porn weather they say they do or not .....its been around for 1000s of years and its not going away it just means porn gets better ...do you really think there would be so many mags and net sites if there wasnt a market for it!

controlling porn is rather like controlling religion ...pointless.if ya dont like it dont look is a waste of time winging because hubby likes a tit mag or two.

I think that killing and violence on television has a much worse effect than porn, although I'm not a big porn fan myself I don't think it should be removed.

I think porn has a awful affect on marriages. If someone in the marriage has a porno fetish, it might make the other person feel like they're not enough. However, if both partners agree that porn is acceptable in thier marriage, then it's okay.
