He would have: " . . . fired a million-dollar cruise missile at a five thousand dollar tent and hit a camel in the butt."

Actually Al Gore chaired the airline Commission on Aviation Safety in the Senate in 1996 that laid out rules that we put in place after 9/11
More Air Marshals, Secured locked doors to the cockpit more stringent checks and profiling, baggage checks.
He was also the personel liason instrumental in pressuring Saudia Arabia (home of 15 of the hijackers) for Information on the millenium plot. (the plot in 2000 to pilot 12 planes in a 9/11 style attacks). He was also head of the Counterterrorism Security Group whos sole purpose was to use all resources (Diplomatic Law enforcement military ect) to reduce terrorist capabilities.
These were the guys who caught Ramsi Yousef
Paul Bremmer GW Bush's govenor of Iraq 2003 to 2005 said once "I dont understand Why The CLINTON White House is so obsessed with catching Osama Binladen"
This was in part due to Gore's Focus on terrorism.
The man that Checked in Mohamed Atta head of the 9/11 group
said He was very suspicious and definitley would have had Atta checked out if there had just been an alert. But he was pretty much prohibited because of the lack of a security alert to start yankin passengers out of line
So I think that if Gore was President and he had been handed the Presidential Daily Briefing (PDB ) of August 6th 2001 that Bush got from Condoleeza Rice He would not have ignored it as Rice and Bush did. He would not have ignored the Monthly briefing that same month from George Tennant head of the FBI on the huge surge in terrorist group communications.
The aftermath of 9/11 would have been handled the same by any President, Committing every resouce we had to Invade Afghanistan ( it was a known haven for Al queda) and t o provide aid to do everything we could.
With Gore as President 9/11 might still have happened but with Bush in Office it was a garuntee, and in the aftermath we still havent eliminated Al Queda and have gone off on the wrong track in our fight against Terror.

If republicans hadn't blocked the Gore Commission's recommendations on aviation safety and security, 9-11 would never have happened. He would NOT have soiled his panties, read The Pet Goat, and surrendered US airspace to al qaeda for over 2 hours like Boy George Bush did.

I choose not to speak on behalf of Al Gore. I will say this, though. I do not think we would be in Iraq. I do not think Al Gore would have used 9/11 as a stepping stone for invading a country that had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks.

He would have created an all-Democrat 9/11 Commission which would have found Republicans in Congress were at fault for spending billions of dollars on a faulty national security system and that all Americans' taxes should be raised to fund a better system.

I think he would have destroyed the Taliban, captured Osama, developed a memorial in downtown Manhattan, forced all commercial airliners to install solid steel doors to all cockpits (like they have in Israeli Airlines) to prevent future attacks, started homeland security to profile terrorists, given New Yorkers accurate information about the air quality and safety to return to work and rebuild the world trade centers nearby and maybe even include yet another design for the worlds tallest building in Brooklyn or something like that to reinforce the prestige of New York and America in general.

Like his fellow Democrat, Franklin Roosevelt, handled Pearl Harbor. Also, he would not have cut and run at Tora Bora, because of Republican pressure not to be a chickenhawk.

The same way Clinton handled the WTC bombing and Oklahoma City. The perpitrators would be in jail or executed by now.

If there were a different president in the white house at the time of 9/11, there is a possibility it wouldn't have happened.
First of all, I doubt they would've ignored the warnings that Condi ignored.
If it did happen, I can tell you Gore would not have kept reading My Pet Goat once informed.

Probably the same way he handled his defeat by George W. Bush in 2000. He'd have grown a beard and crawled down a woodchuck hole for a few years.
