Right now the Ipod is the better choice for a portable music player. Excellent construction, stable, and many choices for both music downloads and accessories.
For a first generation release, the Zune is VERY impressive but lacks some basic features that really would have helped it win over some ipod fans out there. It only supports one type of video file (WMA i think) and lacks the ability to use it to transport windows compatible files with you on the go. It doesn't seem like too difficult a feat to allow the Zune to also function as a portable hard drive, a basic feature that should have been included.
One the upside, the wireless transfer of files is new and a great idea and the fact that Microsoft will update the firmware frequently leaves me with high hopes that the units short comings can be rectified eventually.
I definitely plan to purchase one in the future but will not do so until it is also able to act as a portable hard drive and allow me to move large files from one pc to another.
GET TO WORK ON THIS MICROSOFT!!!!!

zune, those people are ipod fanboys and just hate everything else..... ive seen that cnn video and dont listen to the people on it cuz they dont no wat theyre talking about (comparing an ipod shuffle to a zune??? Zune has a bigger screen, the software will convert mp4 files to wmv, it has a radio, and it's much more durable... zune is better.
