I enjoy driving... but then again I'm getting my license next month so it's not surprising. :)

I love driving but then I am very lucky and live in the central Highlands of Scotland and driving up here is a joy.
However, I have just returned from 10 days in the south of England and it was driving Hell. Impossible to get into top gear and stay there as there are so many cars on the roads, along with traffic humps, speed cameras etc., and the aggression of the other drivers was just the pits. I couldn't wait to get home.

I do love driving but only when the road’s empty. There’s something quite exciting about being able to zoom along and having all that power under my right foot! If I’m driving back at night and there’s nothing on the road I find myself lifting off the accelerator, slowing down and then flooring it and seeing how long I dare keep my foot down! I don’t drive unsafely fast and never do it if it’s busy. Actually the best rush for me is accelerating quickly, not tonking along at 90mph so I like twisty, bendy country roads where I can exit a bend in a low gear and plant my right boot firmly on the gas! Anyone else think this is fun?

I HATE driving in a busy town centre with big queues of traffic and people wandering about all over the road. But when you get out on the open road its great fun. I used to drive 60 mile round trip to work, usually between 4.00am - 6.00am, so the roads were very quiet - I had an old Mk II Golf, and I loved every minute of it, even though there was a puddle in the car, water dripping in the sunroof and I had to glue a portable radio to the dash coz the radio was broken!
(Oh yeah - when I had my Vectra I hated driving - that car was awful, big, clumsy, heavy, underpowered, slow on the uptake, heavy on fuel - I think 'Somewhere'is right - the car makes a huge difference!)

Most people, I feel, enjoy driving. I, however, find it a chore. Within the next 30 years, I think we'll see, as an option at first, and mandatory by the Fed. govt. later, an autonomous vehicle. You'll simply get in and state where you want to go. The car will take you there safely and quickly. Once all motorized vehicles are controlled by these systems, you'll be able to travel faster to your destination, since all vehicles will know where every other vehicle is. Minority report, here we come!!

I'm right there with you. I drive to school 3 days a week for about 60 miles round trip. I enjoy the time and find my mind at ease for much of the trip. I also drive a 5spd and still get a little rush from speed once in a while...Add Sirius or XM to your ride if you haven't already...it makes the drive that much better.

I've been driving for 10 years.
I enjoy driving when: There are good songs on the radio, the road is pretty much empty, and it's daylight.
I hate driving when: There's nothing but crap on the radio, there are tons of cars about so I have to REALLLY pay attention, and it's night (my depth perception is crud at night, for some reason). I also hate driving somewhere new, where I have to figure out what road I'm on and what lane I need to be in, and where I need to turn. I also despise merging on freeways.

I think this really depends on what you're driving. If you've happen to have a car that is fun to drive, then it's not a chore at all. I just got rid of a car that was a pain, and I hated getting in it to go anywhere. So, to answer your question, it's the car not the drive that makes driving a chore.
Drive something you like!

If the traffic is fluid and I can go at a good speed, I enjoy driving. But usually there is a LOT of traffic around here (Mexico City), and a travel that would take me 25 minutes without traffic can turn into a 1.5 hour drive, which I hate!

I've only been driving for four years and hate it , The only reason I persevered with driving lessons is because I had spent so much money on them.[1 lesson a week for 2 1/2 years]
I'll never like it but have to do it as part of my job.

I used to love driving until I started driving every week back and forth from Houston to San Antonio. After driving that far on a not very scenic route it gets old real fast.
