Way to go, Sue! I agree, the laws should be much tougher. We need to extend our much-vaunted compassion to other living beings...of course, since it's apparently now acceptable AND legal to torture other humans, I'm afraid we're losing ground rather than gaining in the compassion department. Doesn't bode well for any creature living on this planet.

If you want to see real animal cruelty, go see how the factory farms raise, beef, pork and poultry. Not to mention pumping antibiotics into them from the time they're born. Tyson produces almost 90% of all the commercial meat you eat. I won't touch it. I can live without it. Thank you. More like cruelty to people eating that sh*t.

I think that the laws should be stricter. Just because its an animal doesn't mean that people should get less time or fine than if it was to a human. The animal can feel it, but people don't care as long as its not hurting them. If you kill an animal it should be the same as murder.

It comes right down to what the ordinary public locate suited, this is why AR companies attempt to disclose the cruelty in production facility farms and slaughterhouses. some hundred years in the past they used to entertain the crowds in england via putting cats on fireplace. Cruelty and human rights regulations mirror the zeitgeist. We ought to shift the zeitgeist to work out a shift in the regulations. Gage would not have cared approximately it tho, provided that his frontal lobes have been destroyed. As his spouse mentioned "Gage isn't Gage anymore"

Should be stricter. Many of our animals are dying off faster than they can reproduce. We should have stricter sentences for people like this.

Stricter. But so should child abuse laws.

The character of a man is measured by his treatment of the weakest members of society. (My own words.)
