Black People suffered so much from slavery in this country. I want to understand the reason why white people didn't say "we are very sorry for what you had to go through" but was against them by saying the N word and "go back to Africa" when they knew they brought them here in the first place.

Is there a document from America apologizing for what they did to the native American Indians? Is there a document from America apologizing for what they did to all the immigrants who first came to this country and were stuck on Ellis Island? Is there any documentation from America apologizing for ANY of the crap they've done?

Even if there is, who really cares?

These kind of questions will not make that happen and do nothing but increase the ignorant fury of others who never knew the hardships of anybody from that time period - white or black. There is no reason to understand why ANYBODY did not or will not say they are sorry for any indignation anyone was put through back then and now. So stop expecting a miracle! It just isn't going to happen!

Let's move on in life and stop acting as if racism is the most important issue we have to deal with today. Questions like these simply spur up that kind of nasty attitude from people who don't even know WHY they dislike a certain culture.

Good grief!

murderu4life,
Why do you want an apology? if you got one, would people stop shooting each other, stop selling drugs, Heck I'm Mexican should I get an apology too, for the Texas rangers killing all those Mexicans like it was a sport, or for blaming the depression of the Mexicans, Should we give the Chinese one also for making them work the railroads, and killing tons of them, should we apologize to the native Americans for raping there land, and killing them off, wait they have Casino's now, they don't get an apology, I would rather get casino money then a sorry letter, lets not forget how the white people treated the Italians, the Irish, the Portuguese, and every other nationality thats here, so if a apology is what's holding you back in life, you need to grow up, Slavery ended 200 years ago, it sucked, majorly that it happened, maybe if someone apologies to you will you change your screen name from "murderu4life" to something more civilized?

I'm so tired of being expected to apologize for something my family had nothing to do with. White people have apologized over and over. We may not have said the words "I'm sorry," but actions speak louder than words. Not all of us came from slave owning backgrounds, and not all of us care about skin color. I am a person just like anyone else is and I treat all people the same. It is not my fault black people suffered, why should I apologize? I'm sorry you feel like you are discriminated against, but please be aware that we're not all the same.

No, not everyone is the same (nmtgirl), but your using actions speak louder than words as an example of an apology from the U.S. for slavery. Does segregation ring a bell? Or maybe lynching do!

dude. it's not like "white people" are some big club that shares secrets and makes decisions.

you want people NOW to apologize for something that happened decades ago, perpetrated by people they dont know, aren't related to, and had no control over???

let me just say, "fukc a whole bunch of that."

i'm sorry for what happened to those people back then, but it wasn't my fault or responsibility. if you find some slave-owners who are somehow still alive, then by all means, get them to apologize.

but there's no point in apologizing for something when everyone who did it is now dead.

an apology will not resolve anything....everybody needs a change of attitude.....and everyone under estimates the long term effects slavery has had on the ancestors of people it oppressed and the ancestor of the perpetrators of the oppression....

because not all white people are from here. im canadian four generations back ...our clan had nothing to do with it and though i sympathise with the problem, have no obligation to apologize or make reparations as I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
