A friend has, not knowing it, hurt me by saying something against a group of people and their beliefs when before the friend say that the friend would never do that. what should i do? I really look up to this person but it's hurt me deep. please help

Hello, Youngling. I'm sorry that you're in such a situation & I know that it hurts. The best thing that you can do is to try & approach the friend carefully & without any tone of negativity in your voice try to talk to them once you can do so after the hardest edge of pain is passed.

State clearly & quietly what you want to say & then go from there as you two converse. Remember to try and keep from exacerbating the situation. Listen & respond with respect even if you disagree & ask that your friend do the same...especially if they want to maintain the friendship.

A direct approach probably wouldn't work and would get their back up. Maybe try using a bit of humour or slight sarcasm to slyly make your point if you get a chance. Another indirect approach to make your point would be to draw attention to another person or situation where similar prejudice is shown and let the person know how you felt about "that person". Its always best to let the person save face.
