I'm writing an essay entitled: 'Trade offs between Economy, Environment and Society'. (Based on Sustainable Development). I've got the introduction and conclusion sorted, but I'm struggling to get the middle part structured. I've got plenty of information (I'm using the Solomon Islands as a case study), but just no clue how to structure the middle/main discussion section. - Help!

Outline, outline, outline. If you're in the middle of the paper and don't know where you're going, you'll need better planning for the paper overall.

Choose a thesis and supporting points.

Each supporting point is probably best handled separately. Treat each supporting point as a "mini-essay", where you state your proposition and support with facts.

Seriously, take a step back and plan before you go further. It'll make a big difference.

I would need more information to help you. Is this paper arguing something? Is it simply reporting? My advice is to make an outline using topic sentences putting them in whatever order seems best at the time. Then go back later and rearrange them as necessary so that you have a logical progression of ideas.

write out what you have in any old order on a rough page.
then see what sentences cud link up into seperate topics/paragraphs. write some short paragraphs and then it will be easier to see where each one shud go. and make sure it works with the intro and conclusion.

PLAN PLAN PLAN,

SOUNDS SIMPLE I KNOW ITS NOT BUT PLANNING IS THE KEY TO ANY GOOD ESSAY... WRITE OR DRAW ON A A4 PAPER WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY AND GO FROM THERE...

THERE IS NO EASY WAY... GOOD LUCK
