I use Vonage...and yep...if you loose power or internet access...you're pretty much SOL...but...it's so cheap (as am I), I just love it, the phone quality is great, the free long distance is great...and my phone number isn't in any bleedin' phone books! Whoo-Hooo! And Dee's lasagna sucks man....mine is so much better.

Hey Jimbo, I know about this. My company just went with VoIP. The only problem we seem to have is if someone calls you from a cell phone sometimes cuts in and out. People also sound "far away" but not all of the time. The VoIP phones we got have caller ID and tons of rings to choose from. You can also delete the message from your email before you even have to listen to it (I am guilty of this.) It will save your company a ton of money too, but I doubt they will pass the benefits on to the employees.. Most companies do not. The rich get richer. :)

It would be voice over data. which is what VoIP means.
VoIP works by converting the voice to data packets and sending across the internet. They are decoded and then the sound is reconstructed on the other end.
Generally speaking it is a reliable communication.

now not a utility organisation, yet a monetary employer. I did an online monetary employer flow on a Saturday to pay the loan that is going out on a Monday. the sole down area is that our monetary employer strategies money beforehand it strategies credit. This meant that i became overdrawn and the loan value bounced. The monetary employer then charged is £38 for the priviledge!!!! it would not have been so undesirable, however the monetary employer flow became from an account on the comparable monetary employer, so as they had the funds besides! The monetary employer became informed in no doubtful phrases that i became having the £38 back. They then went via their 'as an act of reliable will bit', which made me see crimson. I informed them that the £38 became my money they had stolen via their stupid rules and that i became having it back and have been given it back I did. the key's to be well mannered, state you information, do now not lose your rag and by no capacity, ever swear at them. reliable success.

along with the fact that if you loose power you loose the phone, you also defeat the ability to use 911 effectively.
