The president is the most visable of our government leaders so initially good and bad credit tends to land on them first. The president is also the highest ranking member of their political party, and the opposition will attempt to lump any negative aspects of the party onto the president because the perception is that as their highest leader he sets the tone of policies for the rest of the party.
In the case of George W. the targeting is well deserved. Under this administration the seperation of powers and the checks-and-balances within our govenerment have been trashed in favor of party politics and the aquisition of power. If the Republicans in congress had remembered their duty to the people over party loyalty, they could have kept things from getting so out-of-hand. Because they let the predisident have free-reign and went along with what ever he wanted, everything that resulted was because of his leadership (or lack therof), so he deserves all the blame.

Yes, you're right that humans make mistakes, but responsible, conscientious humans beings who make mistakes admit that they made them, and try to make amends. They don't sit by and watch hundreds of thousand of people dying as a result of those mistakes, and refuse to accept that they're wrong. They don't lie, and torture, and hold people in prison without charges, trial, or appeal. They don't make up false reasons to go to war (where was his concern for his reputation then?) and then consistently refuse to give their troops the support they need to win, or even to survive. Comparing Bush to FDR is highly insulting to Mr. Roosevelt.
I'm not even going to get started on the Clinton/Lewinsky thing, except to say this. So far as I am aware, no one died as a result of that little tryst.

First off, he really didn't get elected. We looked like a joke to the rest of the world because of that election. So that was how it started. Then, he and his people LIED to use like we were a bunch of ignorant children. Then he waved the flag and anyone who didn't go along with him was ANTI AMERICAN. ("Patriotism is the last resort of a scoundrel....") He's done so many sneaky things to take care of his buddies that it makes me sick. Signing statements, the Patriot Act. Just manipulating people with fear is rotten enough. Don't you DARE compare him to FDR...."There is nothing to fear but fear itself...." as compared to "the war on terror" and orange and red alerts. FDR was a real leader. They are NOTHING alike. And I will say whatever I want to about him because we still have a First Amendment in this country.

Hey, if you want to be President of the US, then you have to accept that as part of the job, because, especially in Washington D.C., not everyone is going to agree with you, no matter what you do, or how good your intentions are or were.

Yeah he is human... but there is a difference between human mistakes and constantly lying to public and deceiving the world.
People make mistakes... but most people try to learn from those mistakes, you don't just keep doing them over and over.

Americans should always respect their president. If they disagree with his politicies, they should do so respectfully. We need to stay together, stay strong. Hating our leader makes us seem weak.
