I think he did. Look at what he's done since then - or maybe it should be what he hasn't done. Of course, the best is still Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan is second best.

I think George Lazenby as Bond was a huge mistake! I don't think he would have gotten the part again even if he wanted once the numbers came back

He was too wooden as Bond.
