it really depends on how you apply it. or maybe how our lashes are different. because i tried some of these brands that were mentioned and i have totally different views than them! like for example Clinique high impact mascara wasn't all that great. it was okay..
on the other hand maybelline XXL is great. THAT really does work, well for me! I suppose others believe it does too because I'm not the only one! I highly recommend you try it!

The trick is to curl your lashes with a metal curler before and after mascara application. I use LashExact by Covergirl and it gives me amazing length and volume. Make sure you comb your lashes with a lashcomb to keep it from clumping.

I like the Loreal kind with the white mascara on one end and the brown or black on the other. The white stuff makes your lashes really thick.

i have the same problem before but now i dun. i dun have long and cruly lashes like other of my fds. but my fd told me to try Clinique high impact mascara, its fab, give you long and seperated lashes wiv no clumps. it makes it look full and black. its in a reasonable price and if u havent used that one before, maybe give it a go. if u want to afford more, i would say estee lauder illusionist intense maximum curling mascara, it works like a pro, very long and seperated lashes without a clump. clinique is easier to remove but estee lauder is also good too. hope this helps you...

I have used them all, from expensive Chanel, YSL, Lancome, etc....
I have also used some over the counter brands... I really swear by this one. I have full and long lashes but my sister, who also had short and not so full lashes, uses the same one after I recommended this to her.
Loreal (it's owned by Lancome as well)... get either the one that has two sides: black and white ends http://www.lorealparisusa.com/frames.asp#cosmetics/index.asp, or the one I use is Panoramic curl:
