Can you think of any cover version that is better than the original.

The only one I can think of was Nirvana, The man who sold the world by David Bowie[even he said it was better]

Roxy Music did a great version of the Rolling Stones' Sympathy for the devil. If you like Nirvana, then you may well enjoy Sonic Youths cover of Robert Palmers 'Addicted to Love', released on the Whitey Album under the pseudonym 'Ciccone Youth'. There was also a 12" single by Mudhoney/Sonic Youth where they covered each others tracks, including 'Touch me I'm sick'.

How Soon is Now. I think the cover by Love Spit Love is better than the original by The Smiths.

Oh, and by the way, I agree with you on the Man Who Sold the World. Nirvana's version is better.

For the ultimate cover version there is only one, and that is Jeff Buckleys cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" That song, and Jeff's voice never ceases to bring tears to my eyes, and a shiver down my spine. If you have not heard it yet, what are you waiting for. Download it now. IT's off Jeff's album "Grace"

The Sundays cover of Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones. I love them both but the one the Sundays did is haunting.
