it's easy "x" is the # youre looking for so:

1) -31 + (x) = 19
2) (x) = +19 +31
3) (x)= 50

You need to understand what number is added to the number -19 inn the equation to make 19. Think of it this way, If owed 31 dollars and now you have a surplus of 19 dollars, what would you have? You would have 50 dollars.
