- sick won't work cause i'm obviously not
- pets won't work cause it didn't work for a friend of mine

Just for the record. I have finished all my work that is why i am on Yahoo Answers, and I'm in no danger of being fired. I'm an attorney and work for the court system. Sorry to disappoint some of you.

I fyou have kids, use then as an excuse. IE- my babysitter just called, and the kids are throwing up, have head lice, etc.
If that doesn't work for your situation, you can just ask

For being a lawyer, you aren't very smart about this. If you're out of things to do, don't go home. Each hour you're at work is an hour you get paid.
My husband is going through the process of laying off 50% of his coworkers, and it's people like you who would be gone without a bat of the eye.

You don't disappoint me. The one that you are disappointing is yourself. If your job does not provide enough work to keep you busy and you have to come up with lame excuses, you must feel pretty badly about taking a paycheck. Hopefully the lights will come on and you will find something more challenging.

If you are smart enough to be an attorney but can't either find something creative to do at work or think of your own decent excuse to go home, then I feel sorry for your clients!

start crying, and tell your boss that you're seriously going to get sick, you have a terrible migraine, and ask her very nicely if u could go home..... dont do it too much!
