Shewag was injured and as such he could not play. Since Wasim Jaffer was selected as an opener, team management had no other option but to play Jaffer in the absence of Shewag.
Team Management may have felt Zaheer, Munaf and Agarkar better pace bowling options than Pathan and Sreesant. Since all the three were among wickets, their selection cannot be faulted.
