How would you feel? Would you rally around each other in support of our country? Would we stop the petty fighting and try to work together again? I ask about this on Thanksgiving because we all have that one thing in common.

In addition to my question...I wish you all a Happy and Peaceful Thanksgiving.

auntb93.....I am not trying to be disrespectful, I by no means want another bombing. The last time in 5 years that we attempted to work together as sad as it is was after that terrible day. My nephew is in the military and I hope and pray that he doesn't have to go on any type of mission anywhere.

I hear you, why does it take being shaken by tragedy, adversity and all that befalls people all over this world, to bring out the best in people? Why can't we get it through our minds and into our souls that we need to open our eyes and hearts to be there for each other, because ITS THE RIGHT THING TO DO NO MATTER YOUR FAITH, BELIEFS, ETHNICITY OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT WOULD HOLD US BACK FROM CARING. The price of being right (if it is or not) is a price too high if it is at the ruination of another. Our creator must weep at the sight of our destruction of each other; can you imagine what a world it would be if we could put aside this pompous opinion of ourselves and just be the people we came into this world to be; imagine if the energies that we now use to hate went to finding cures, feeding hungry, building homes for those on the street, helping rebuild a city, being there for a family who lost...HATE SIMPLY COULDN'T LIVE IN A HEART FILLED WITH A DESIRE TO LOVINGLY HELP ANOTHER. It isn't a pie-in-the-sky dream, it is obtainable and it doesn't apply to one country/nation over another, it applies to all.

You know, this question disturbs me. It sounds almost like you think a bombing would be good for us!

It is true that we rallied around and got all red, white and blue after 9/11/01, but that is not the same thing as this being good for us. We lost hundreds of people completely, and had many more lives ruined or seriously trashed due to the destruction of that horrible day. We know that it was enemy action, and not a natural disaster, which makes it all the more grim. The long-term consequences of that enemy action have not yet been completely felt. Certainly there are better ways to Americans to remember that we are all in this together, that we need each other, and that patriotism is not the same as bigotry or nationalism.

We would rally around each other for a while, just as we did after 9/11, and then we would go back to the petty fighting again.

It would probably have around the same effect that 9/11 did. But probably make people more angry becuase it would be on one of our holidays.
