A new idea or an actual product?

If you have an actual product, locate a wholesale food distributor (supermarket) or the corporate offices for other than a food item, call them and ask to speak to the appropriate department buyer and persuade them to take a look at it. It's a tough burn getting a hold of a buyer in a large company.

If you just have an idea, maybe you shouldn't contact them yet. Even with legitimate products, many times buyers will "steal" the product and have an associate produce it thus throwing you to the curb.

Good luck

Mike

Ideas are a dime a dozen. You should produce the product and then find a buyer. That might require you to borrow money or mortgage your house, but unless you are willing to take that risk, I doubt any distributor will want to do that either.

If you go to most supermarkets websites they have a "Contact us" button, usually somewhere near the bottom and in small writing, which will normally supply you with telephone numbers and addresses etc - all you'd have to do is call the buying or purchasing department. Waitrose (and I guess that might go the same for John Lewis) are good for supplying locally sourced/produced goods in any of their branches in a certain radius of where it was made/grew.

you need to go to the person who make the decisions on buying. like, corporate category buyers in the head office. if no head office is available you want to convince the region manager that your product (idea) is the way to go. call the supermarket. they will give you the phone number to the head office or regional manager. No need to get into too much detail with the store... remember, they really have no decision making power.

I would avoid selling to a supermarket as all you end up doing is chasing money.

i work for Tesco in their head office and if you were looking to sell your product in our store we would direct you to the buyers department, call 01992 632222, which would take you to switch board and ask for the buyers department.
