We have become great friends over the past year and my gut tells me that she does not feel the same way I do, but I possibly (or maybe because I just want it to be true) get indications there could be more. I have resolved myself to not confessing my feelings to her. I find it very hard to still be her friend feeling the way I do. Should I just get her out of my life so that I can move on or remain good friends, which worries me that I might just be doing it in hopes of a future relationship.

There are some problems here

1) she is in a long term relationship, which would make it difficult for you to get with her even if she had feelings for you

and

2) she doesn't like you the same way you like her

That's an even bigger obstacle. You could get around obstacle # 1 (she could get divorced) but obstacle # 2 is the kicker - if she's married AND she doesn't feel the same way, you are never going to get her.

Either accept that you'll never be more than a friend - or if that's too hard for your hear to take, break off contact and move on.

Dear Joe T,

Back off NOW. The woman is MARRIED. This should not equate "forbidden fruit" to you, but should equate "NOT AVAILABLE - EVER." If she cheats with you, you have helped cause her to become an adulteress. On top of that, how could you ever trust her, if she cheats with you?

Add all of the above together, you see you have a lose/lose situation. Don't move on it, move away from it. Good luck somewhere else.

I'm confused--you say "a" married "women". How many women is it? Or maybe just one woman? If she is married, she doesn't want anything from you except possibly sex if she happens to get mad at her husband for something. I know you don't want to hear that, but I hope you'll dump her and find a woman that can be 100% yours!

You are living in a fantasy world. Either get that nonsense out of your head or tell her you have to end the friendship because of your feelings. Do NOT do anything to try to get more out of the relationship, or you will be asking for big trouble.

If she is married, and you dont think she feels the same way then just keep it to friendship. If you cant handle that then i would let it go. It is only hurting yourself by staying around knowing she doesnt feel the same way.

Step 1 is to remove the temptation (unless your plan is to try to act on it).

You don't mention if YOU are married. If so, you need to get some counseling to help get over this. Otherwise you run the risk of it destroying your marriage.

If you "care" about her, then you should respect her marriage.

Medling in someones marriage never turns out well. Let the woman go and find someone unattached. There are plenty out there. And no you should not be friends. You won't be able to just be friends anyways.

Care to screw up a great friendship? Then make your move. Don't be stupid. If she wanted to have an affair you'd know it. No doubt about it. If you aren't sure this is the case now then it isn't. Don't be stupid. Keep the friendship clean.

Continue being her friend but don't spend too much time with her. Never ever cheat with her; afterall if you were married to someone else you wouldn't want them to cheat on you would you?
