Try going to Ross or other discount store and don't go for all trendy clothes but buy some classic black pants/skirt and buy things that you can mix and match to make diff. outfits. You can stretch it- but you most likely will need to buy more clothes throughout the year.

Ebay, http://www.laundromatic.net/newauction/ , Goodwill, sales at stores like Goody's, Rue21, Target, Marshall's, even Walmart
Maybe you and a friend could switch clothes and borrow from each other.
Also, here's a site where everything is $15.

Simple.
Go to Express, Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx or The Limited. Buy classic timeless pieces such as a pair of nice stretch khakis, a simple, white button down, some nice boot cut jeans and an A line skirt. Avoid trendy colors. Accessorize with things in your closet and remember, your girlfriends' closets are open game to spice up your looks.
Keep your eye on stores like the Gap & Old Navy. As the seasons get close to changing then hit them up, stock up and you'll save a bundle!

depending on where you are, there are some great thrift shops that carry some pretty trendy stuff. Also, consider making your own....you can get some really simple patterns at fabric stores and fabric goes on sale all the time. It's affordable, fun and the best part is you get exactly what you want 'cause you're making it! Consider altering some things you already have...buy two pairs of jeans at a thrift store and make them into a skirt. There are a bunch of sites that teach you how to do this. Get creative and have fun!

all the answers before mine were good & remember to buy clothes that you can mix & match w/ other clothes
For example: Black jeans, they go w/ just about any color
shirt or sweater, a sweater w/ more than one color in it so you can wear it w/ more than one outfit ect....
happy thabksgiving !
