2 words for their struggles in the last few years.

Matt Millen

Back in the Barry Sanders era..........they relied too much on the "chuck and duck" (run & shoot) instead of building a good defense to compliment the best running back during that time.

Thanks motorcity; It's nice to see that there are shallow lowlife frontrunners still watching football.

The Lions have been mismanaged for decades. They have hired poor coaches and their drafting is just terrible. If your missing on high draft picks, your in huge trouble; just ask the RAiders.

Matt Millen is really lost. He was an articulate popular former white player that put on a good front as this brilliant football guy. HE wasnt' qualified for the position and he's made a mess of it.

Drafting #1 WR year after year was a little comical. Their offensive line is bad to awful and they have no direction.

For the same reasons that Ford is no longer one of the best cars on the road. The owner refuses to see reality. With the money they have, they could afford the best management in the NFL. Without that, they will keep making drafting and salary cap errors. Anyone remember Wayne Fontes?

I gave them up and went looking for a real mans team.I now back the Chicago Bears, they have tradition back to 1920 s when they started the NFL.They have more wins and championships, but not Super bowls. They have had 13 QBs in the last 15 yrs. but now have Rex Grossman that led FL.to a few Nation championships in college football. He is now in his first full season and ck out his stats .The Bears will soon dominate the NFL again .What a defense too.

Poor draft picks - look at the C. Rogers (WR) choice; he couldn't stay on the field nor is he on the team 3 - 4 years later. They have no QB and no defence. Barry Sanders was arguably the best RB ever and they never build around him. The owner won't invest in a good coach/ or college scouts (player dvelopment) .

Revenue sharing Baby! NFL kicks out the same to champs and chumps alike. Big incentive for mediocrity today that didn't exist years ago.

Lots of theories about this, but the one constant in all the years of their suckitude is the owner - William Clay Ford. Not much you're going to do about the owner, unfortunately.

It's the front office, they've had too many bad drafts year after year, they get one good guy, ie.. Barry Sanders, Roy Williams, and they don't build around them

Apparently Joey Harrington claims it's because we fans give them bad vibes. We're supposed to have more faith in them and cheer them on.

Go figure... now it's OUR fault??
