Ok here's the deal, my daughter is in 6th grade, do the allow the students to bring gifts of is it frowned at because there are so many students? I know it's ok for elementary students to bring gifts, but what about once they are on Jr.High?

I agree with the person who said a personal note of appreciation is a great gift. When I get them, I tape them to the inside of a folder and when I get that, "WHY AM I HERE?" feeling, I open my folder of positive notes.
Another great gift is a favorite book to add to the class library, or even the school library with a nice dedication written in it.
other suggestions

plant for the classroom
journal notebooks
gift cards to fast food places, book stores
a lapel pin
cute post it notes (never have enough of those!)
a picture of your student

Gifts are always welcomed as a nice gesture. Teachers do not expect to receive gifts, however it can be a good way to show appreciation.

As a rule, keep the value to below $10, and give something that isn't personal. A posy of flowers can be lovely for a female teacher, as can a small box of chocolates. A nice pen can be a good gift for either a male of female teacher.

Try and stay away from gifts such as bath products, as they may give the wrong impression.

Teacher's do not expect gifts. It is allowed, however. Seriously, a nice note from the parent or child thanking the teacher (if it is sincerely meant), or a nice note to the principal telling what the teacher has meant to the child is the nicest gift I could get.

It is up to the parent and child. Teachers do not expect gifts. If you do give a gift,it should be a token gift, such as a xmas ornament or coffee mug etc. It should not be a personal item or something expensive.

it's ok to give something. probably not a good idea with a mug unless it's really unique. most teachers get a dozen every year from students and they end up giving them away.
