Depends on the situation... if you think you can tell them about your allergy tell them, many people will be glad to accomodate your needs - if you are not sure then bring your own food.
You hate your life? Then you are taking alot for granted... count the good things in your life and do it regularly - you are not the most unfortuanate person in the world.
Take pleasure from showing people how well you handle this - because all people will face difficulties in their lives and you can be an example of strength... which people admire.
Your situation gives you a chance to make a difference.

i laugh about my food allergies now, i grew up in a fish on Friday house hold. I'm deathly allergic to fish, the smell alone sends me into anaphylaxis. we had a screened in porch so i had to eat dinner outside until i grew up and was old enough to be out of the house on Friday nights. i have more food allergies now, they're not like other allergies, they don't go away you just develop new ones according to my allergist. i have moments when i want to cry, but it hurts, so i don't. if i have a new reaction to something that i was never allergic to that tends to depress me sometimes. now on a more morbid note, i don't worry about cancer and stuff like that, i think one day my body will totally freak out thinking that it's under attack by some foe that is not really a foe and it will kill me. i know it sounds creepy, but I've had allergies since about 5yo there's nothing left to do but joke about them.
DO tell people what you can eat, i tell people all the time. if you don't you run the risk of pissing people off, yeah people actually get offended by your allergies. go figure.
don't be down just accept them what they can do if you're not careful and move on. good luck and good eating!!!!

I feel for you =)
I would always bring something that I could eat, just in case. If you are close friends with someone, perhaps mention that you have an allergy and perhaps they will accomodate you.
If not, eat your food and have a good time at the party!

There are alot more worse situations out there than that! Count you blessings. You have all your fingers to type what you did. You have a brain that is functional. You can see. Now start thinking and add to this list......it will help you feel better.
