Glue only becomes sticky and hardens in the presence of oxygen. When it is in the tube, oxygen does not get in. However, if there's some glue that has spilt out of the tube present and the lid was closed, this glue will oxidise and hence you find it difficult to open the cap of the tube.

Its because air is needed to dry the glue.

If you were to take the cap off the glue and leave it then it would definatly stick in the inside.

adhesive is a sticky stubstance that sets, thys you cant use honey as a glue, for it remains runny. inside the tube there is no air, so the contents remain runny.

The oldest glues are based on the hot liquid gelatine of animal parts, and are set as they cool.

water based glues dry, by evaporating the water, so they need to be in open dry air to set, and will remain liquid in the tube.

resins are kept liquidwith volitile solvents, which evaporate in the air.

some resins have to be mixed to activate, and will then produce heat and evaporate the solvents within them.

It does, when it dries out. You have to realise that adhesives are stored in containers the contents of which are not designed to stick to.
