If you are talking about cost, it depends on what kind of hay. I live in Texas and we pay in excess of $6 per bail. If your talking about weight, I would say a square bail is anywhere from 30# and up. Depends on how tight it is packed.

Well, apparently Cutco is the only one here who has ever been out of the city and on the farm. It totally depends what type of hay bail you are talking about. If you are talking about a small bail of hay or a big round bail which can weigh as much as a ton or more. Then you have to consider what you have bailed. Is it grass, CRP, corn stocks. alfalfa or what. What was the moisture content when it was bailed? These all contribute to the weight of the bail, and technically not all bails are bails of hay. Some are grass bails, or CRP bails etc. I'm not sure if this answers your question or not.

how much does the average bale of hay... what? weight? dimensions? stay out in the sun?

BTW: In my country (I'm in Poland) we do not put hay in bales- we put straw in bales. Hay is dry grass, straw is what is left after harvesting wheat.

The answer is- depends what method you use to make the bales. some machines make cubes (different sizes), others make cylinders of various sizes. The ones I've hauled around were box shaped, about 50 x 50 x 100 centimetres, weight of around 30 kilos

If you mean bale of hay, it's 200 pounds.

If you mean to bail hay, the amount needed depends what it's in for.
