I just love old movies like The King and I and The Parent Trap. I really appreciate them and sometimes I wish that today's style was like that! I'm young, and I still apreciate them and I like the stories. Does anyone else feel this way?

It's really amazing that even in comparison to current movies with computer graphics and special effects, kids are still fascinated by The Wizard of Oz. Really goes to show that story and acting are still major factors for children everywhere.

I even knew someone who grew up thinking Hayley Mills was actually twins!

I like The Sound of Music, too. With the holidays coming up, it's bound to be on sometime! That's another great thing about Christmas--the opportunity to see the classics!

If you have cable tv, TCM has all the classics including the contemporary. On the Waterfront aired the other night. I love the older movies, especially the allure of black and white. Somehow it just made the movie better, in my opinion of course. If you're wishing to go farther back, the 1930's spawned alot of influence. Bachelor Mother with Ginger Rogers is a charming comedy with David Niven, then again all Rogers and Astaire films are great to watch- all the dancing is wonderful. It takes you back to a time that I wasn't a part of.

Love them, To Kill A Mocking Bird, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, etc., they are all great. Parent Trap, all of Doris Day's movies, I wish there were more movies made like those, but, you can't beat black and white. Have a great Thanksgiving!!!

Yes, I do. I remember when Saturday was spent watching the old black and white movies on TV. Then that creep Ted Turner bought them all up and now you have to pay to see them as they aren't on free TV anymore.

Old movies had movie stars. People who had prescence on screen and off. Today with few exceptions they are pretty faces who are disposable.
