what fluid does the 727 use? its in my 69 charger...can i use mercon dexron-III?

You absolutely can. that's what I use on all my 727's. Dexron-III is about the most compatible ATF you can get on the market. just about all automatics take it now. in fact I would recommend you take your car down, have the trans flushed and fresh Dexron III put in. Keep that 69 alive. my 66 Charger runs awesome on it and it's all I use anymore.

Yep, the old Chrysler transmissions run standard Dextron. The only exception is if somebody rebuilt it for racing, as some of the performance rebuild kits out there are meant for Type F fluid instead. But if it's never been touched, rebuilt with stock parts, or if the previous owner didn't give you any warnings, you can safely assume it'll run regular transmission fluid.

ATF4 will work well. It is upgraded from the old ATF by Chrysler for all the advanced transmissions now on the road as well as yours. The '4' just means better.
